Break it Yourself is Andrew Bird’s sixth solo studio album release on March 5th, 2012. Bird has released two non-album cuts on a 7”; also called Break It Yourself. The A-side is a cover of Alpha Consumer’s The Crown Salesman and the B-side is a cover of the Handsome Family’s So Much Wine. Bird’s writing has changed over the course of his career, and this is shown in Break it Yourself: Andrew Bird has gradually added more layers to his songwriting, very often intertwining the political with the microscopic, the humdrum with the fantastical, the made-up word with the pointed phrase, says Pitchfork, giving the album a 7.5.
